About us
Maybe the about us should really say about me, because shades of knitting is a one woman show started by me (Kylie) in 2020. The name is derived from my middle name, which is Shade. The story goes that if I had been born a boy my dad got to pick my name which was going to be Shadow. Since I was a girl my parents compromised and gave me the middle name Shade.
I wish I had a story that involved me learning to knit at a young age, but the truth is I am a completely self-taught and only started seriously knitting at the end of 2017.
After a chronic illness left be bed bound, I turned to knitting to keep my mind and arms active and completely fell in love! At first, I created an Instagram just to share my new fibre art craft but then I discovered test knitting and was hooked!
Since 2017, my love and passion for knitting has grown and I am so excited to be able to share my passion with you!
